St. Timothy's just received a thank you note from St. Luke's in New Orleans for our continued financial support to rebuild their church. We are hoping we can somehow forward you a copy of the note. Hope you all are well. Tania De Young

Has anyone heard from the group?
Flight? Arrival?

Yes, they landed safely and found the region devastated. Justin described towns being shut down with the exception of the Win Dixxies (grocery stores). He said all the houses were marked with either the number of dead bodies found or that the gas main was broken. They passed an abandoned Toys R' Us with toys strewn thruout the parking lot and weeds growing thru them. They are not staying where originally planned. They are at a large volunteer center complete with bunkbeds in "circus tents" and volunteers from around the country. No A/C. They received their assignment which will be to clear homes of debris (that have remained untouched since the hurricane). They are all exhausted from the voyage but spirits seem good.

Thank you for the info. I am curious, how you heard from them...

Hi Maria,

I heard via my son's 2 cell phone calls and from an adult leader's partner (both friends and members of our parish).

Hey all checking on the trip...there was a mix-up on how the email updates were happening...Tania's comment has the latest...a brief email update for parents will go out this afternoon and the youth should begin blogging this evening! Phil Brochard+

Justin has called twice. he described conditions in the area as much more devastated than he had imagined. What he saw seemed to fill him even more with purpose, to help anyway they could. He stated they would be working at a certain house starting today (Wednesday).
